The young and budding community physicians (< 40 years) will get to showcase their talents and potential by participating in various competitions that are lined up for them.

There will be a plethora of educative, cultural and sporting activities throughout the three days for you to learn and enjoy at the same time.

Would be wonderful to have all come in droves to our temple of learning- AIIMS Bhubaneswar, which is located in one of the top smart cities of the country, and the state from where our Hon’ble President hails. Not to mention, under the aegis of our fraternity body, the IAPSM!!

Dr Sushila Nayar was a visionary and the third Health Minister of India. She did her MBBS & MD from Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi and later shifted to Sewagram, Maharashtra where she was closely associated with Mahatma Gandhi. She became his personal physician and inculcated his values and ethos, which she practised diligently till her last days. She established the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in 1969, which still follows principles and Gandhian ways of life.

The 2nd Dr Sushila Nair Oration Award will be conferred upon the young Community Physicians who will fulfil not only the academic criteria but will also demonstrate the principles of community development and population health in the Gandhian spirit.

Objective

To recognise and honour the academic, service and research achievements of the young Community Physician and encourage them to grow further in their profession and be an inspiration for others.

Eligibility criteria

  1. Age below 40 years (as on the day of conference)
  2. Should have IAPSM membership
  3. Must be registered for the conference

Rules

  1. It is expected that the orations will be based on some original scientific work undertaken by the contestant or some vital topic of public health importance.
  2. Only one paper can be submitted for oration by one individual.
  3. The contestant will send a full paper of the work they want to depict for the oration. (It may be published within the last one year or under process)
  4. They should also send their short biography with the details given in the submission format.
  5. There should be a paragraph of about 200 words about the paper’s background they want to share, which is not included in the paper.
  6. Selected participants will be delivering their orations in the conference as per the schedule.
  7. Winner will be chosen by the esteemed judges.
  8. Certificates for all the participants and winners will be distributed at the end of the competition

The prelims shall consist of 50 questions which shall be paper based and shall include MCQ’s, fill in the blanks, assertion and reasoning, match the following and puzzle

Final Round

Best of five shall participate in final round. Final round shall be an audio-visual round on stage. Detailed instructions shall be provided on the day of quiz

This competition is dedicated towards creating innovative solutions for current issues in the field of public health.

Proposals are invited in the form of abstracts, which should include the following narrative.

  • 1. A clear description of the problem/issue being targeted.
  • 2. What is the solution, and what makes this solution innovative as well as sustainable?
  • 3. What impact does/will it have on public health or disease?
  • 4. What resources are required for the solution?

ABSTRACT GUIDELINES

Abstract: 500-1000 words

Format: The abstract must be formatted to include the problem, solution, innovation, and expected impact. Please include the headers (i.e., problem, solution, innovation, scientific basis for innovation, expected impact, resources).

  • Problem: Describe the public health problem that you are trying to solve. What is the size of the problem? What will be different if the problem is solved?
  • Solution: What is your proposed innovative solution? Why is it important? How will it be implemented in the community? How is it sustainable?
  • Innovation: What makes the idea new and innovative?
  • The scientific basis for innovation: Any literature (if available) on similar innovations. Why will the solution be effective for the stated problem?
  • Impact: Discuss the current or expected outcomes, and the abstract must also delineate how these outcomes are or will be measured.

Selection Criteria: The abstract must adhere to the above format, and must include all sections. Gross deviation from the format will lead to disqualification. The abstract will be evaluated based on the level of innovation, the expected impact and description of metrics, and the details that indicate that it is scientific and will be effective.

The results will be announced during the conference and as per the decision of the committee, the best abstracts may be presented at the conference.

Rules for Submission of video

Registered teams need to submit their short video clip.

  • Duration of clip: 10 minutes.
  • The clip must be shared through Google Drive link or via e-mail. It is to be uploaded to YouTube and a link to be shared with us.
  • Please mention “3rd IAPSM Young Leader’s National Conclave” along with the logo at the start of the video. This should be followed by your college and team name in the video itself.
  • Originality of content and the number of likes and shares on the video will be also considered for screening

Criteria for Judgement:

  • Quality of content
  • Voice Pitching and Action
  • Crowd Interaction and Audience Response
  • Social message (with a focus on how positive social change can be brought about in innovative new ways)
  • Each team will be given a specific sub-theme which will be revealed after the release of first screening round.
  • Time limit: Maximum 10 minutes
  • For logistics teams has to co-ordinate beforehand with the Co-ordinating Team.
  • Use of fire or any other hazardous item is strictly forbidden.

Terms and Conditions

Eligibility: All graduates and postgraduates (Indian or Foreign nationality) below 40 years of age and below the designation of Assistant Professor.

How to participate: No fee required to enter the Competition. To enter the Competition, participants must do the following during the Entry Period:

  1. Complete the online entry form given in the website: WWW.IAPSM-YLNC2022.COM
  2. Submit up to five photographs that have a community as their subject and will depict the competition theme of ‘Community physician for Sustainable health’.

Submission guidelines: Participants are required to follow the eligibility and register latest by 30th July 2022. The participant must comply with the following guidelines:

  1. Five photographs are to be submitted. The submission should be the participant’s original work.
  2. Photographs must not include recognizable third-party branding, trademarks or logos. It must not contain third-party copyright work (such as a painting or photo) without permission.
  3. If the photograph shows an identifiable person or persons, each person must have given their consent or assent.
  4. Photographs must not include any confidential information or personal information concerning any person and if it does one must obtain consent or assent for the same.
  5. Image properties should be of following specifications: 2400 pixels on the longest side, minimum 300 dpi, minimum JPEG quality 10; maximum size of each image is 15MB.
  6. Submissions must be labeled with the name of the entrant and the title of their image(s), for example “BijayKumar-HealthEducationByANM”.
  7. All information provided by participants as part of their Submission and in connection with this Competition must be true and accurate.
  8. Submissions must not be, or contain any material which is or may reasonably be considered to be, threatening, defamatory, obscene, indecent, offensive, pornographic, abusive, and liable to incite racial hatred, discriminatory, menacing, inflammatory, in breach of confidence or otherwise unlawful.

Participant selection: Eligible participants will be shortlisted by a panel of judges comprising representatives of the Organizers and at least one independent judge. The final selection of images will also be judged by a panel of judges comprising representatives of the Organizers and at least one independent judge.

At all stages, entries will be judged based on interpretation of the theme, creativity, artistic merit, emotion, impact, originality, aesthetic appeal and photographic skill.

In the event of a tie, the independent judge will select the winner from all tied entries using the original criteria. The decisions of the judging panel will be final and no correspondence will be entertained.

Winner Notification: Winners will be notified via the Email ID provided by the participant. Results will be declared by the 1st week of November 2022.

Prizes: Will be disclosed at the 3rd IAPSM young leader’s national conclave, November 2022!

Screening Round

We will be sending one original research article. for participants to read and submit their critique not exceeding 1000 words, which should include

Name of the Candidate
Title of article and Statement of the problem or issue discussed (100-200 words)
The author’s purpose, hypothesis, approach or methods, results, and major conclusions (200-400 words)
Your detailed Critical Review of the research article and interpretation based on the critical review (400-600 words)

Final Round

All the shortlisted participants will be shared one original research article and expected to submit a pre-recorded video presentation of 15 minutes duration - critical appraisal of that article and submit before deadline.

  • Top 3 Candidate will be getting the opportunity to present Offline after Final round
  • All the participants will be Greeted with Certificates and winners will be awarded.

  • Your submissions (critical appraisal) must be your own work: You would undertake the critical review of the articles by yourself without the support of others (friends/seniors/faculty)

Singing Competition

General Rules

  • Registration is mandatory to participate
  • There will be solo performance for singing
  • Multiple entries from the same college are allowed
  • Age limit for participation – maximum 40 years
  • Undergraduate students, Residents & Faculties are allowed to participate
  • Language must be – Hindi or English (No local language is allowed)
  • Any form of obscenity in the language may result in penalty at the discretion of the judges – may range from point deduction to disqualification
  • Last date for submission – 15th October 2022

Screening Round

  • This round will shortlist only 4 persons who will perform in the finale
  • Registered participants are needed to submit a short video clip of singing performance
  • The duration of the clip will be maximum 5 minutes
  • The clip must be shared through google drive link or via email. So, the size of the clip should be accordingly
  • "3rd IAPSM Young Leaders National Conclave” along with the logo should be present at the back of the video
  • There should be mention of the name, designation & college in the video
  • Shortlisted 4 persons will be informed via email to perform in the final IAPSM conference

Final Round

  • Final 4 shortlisted singers will be performing in the conference

  • The first 32 individuals to register for the game shall be chosen to participate in the game.
  • Each participant will play individually.
  • Participants shall be permitted to take part only in one sport.
  • Each round will consist of three sets of game. And each game will be played 1x1.
  • Winner of each round will subsequently play next rounds. Semi-final round will have 4 participants and final round will have 2 participants.
